Yakuniku restaurants are ones in which you cook your own food directly on your table. I think this tradition may be more Korean than Japanese, but there are numerous restaurants of this type in Japan and I have found them to be delicious. Usually they are all-you-can-eat but controlled by time; i.e. you have 90 minutes from start to finish eating. They specialize in all types of meat, but also offer yummy vegetables that can be grilled as well.

While we were in Tokyo with the larger group we visited one of these restaurants one evening and shared so much laughter (perhaps because it was also an all-you-can-drink restaurant as well). Unfortunately none of us thought to take any pictures of the experience, but Mauricio definitely came through as our grill master that evening.
