Happy Valentines Day

This is not a holiday as commercially celebrated in Japan as in the U.S., and it has its differences. Here February 14th is a day for women to offer tokens to men to let them know of their affections. Then a month later, on March 14th, Okinawans celebrate a day known as “white day” in which men respond by remembering the women in their lives.

Devin arrived home from work with chocolates for me on Valentines Day, but he chuckled when he told me he was the only man in the store buying chocolates as this was the day for women to treat men!

Okinawan chocolates — delicious and beautiful!
Devin is ready for work wearing his special Valentines bowtie. Not everyone was so festive!

I was able to babysit this little cutie so that Devin and McKenzie could go out to dinner on Valentines Day. I think I received the better treat!
