January to April is whale watching season in the East China Sea around Okinawa. Devin and I took a whale watching tour in order to watch for the humpback whales swimming by, and we were well rewarded. It was difficult to capture their antics in a picture as they were rather unpredictable, but we saw whales up to 30 tons coming out of the water, slapping their tails or spouting water through their blow hole.

No one prepared me for how choppy the sea was, but thanks to well-supplied doctors on board I got medication that allowed me to enjoy the trip without losing my breakfast! Believe me, some folks on board did just that!
