Food!
Okinawa offers a cuisine very different from that in the U.S. (though there are some McDonald’s and KFCs to be found on this island.) One of my favorite restaurants so far is one where sushi comes gliding by on a conveyor belt, and one can help themselves to anything that looks appealing. At the end of the meal the bill is determined by the number of plates on your table! I was surprised to find that they even offered a cheeseburger sushi — a mini burger (cooked) atop a clump of sticky rice.
It is also interesting to note that tipping servers is not observed in this culture. It makes the bill cheaper when you don’t have to add that extra percentage for service.
